With a vision of creating something special, they planted the hedge maze even before laying the foundations for their home. “We had always talked about growing a maze,” Trish recalls, emphasizing the couple’s determination and forward-thinking attitude.
Designing an Experience
The creation of the hedge maze was as much about artistry as it was about gardening. Chris ingeniously used Cuisenaire blocks, purchased from an op shop, to design the structure on graph paper. His meticulous planning was coupled with a spirit of spontaneity, as changes continued to evolve even as they were planting 500 hedge tubes from a nearby nursery. Each path was crafted with careful measurements, ensuring that the maze would remain engaging but accessible.
